General Manager Sri Lanka

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the complete management and organization of the Retreat. Your main task is to ensure smooth operations across all areas - from gastronomy and logistics to the quality of surf and yoga courses - while continuously monitoring and maintaining the high standards of our offerings. You will act as the key liaison between the founders, partners, the local and international team and external service providers, ensuring that the Surf Spirit philosophy is embodied every week. This includes reviewing guest feedback and implementing optimisation measures across all areas to enhance the guest experience and improve retreat operations. You will actively lead team meetings, recruit new employees, onboard and develop them. Additionally, you will oversee all administrative tasks related to guest arrivals and departures, such as financial controlling, staff scheduling, and weekly plan adjustments. Your commitment to our values and vision is crucial; you will ensure they are upheld and integrated into the team culture. In crisis situations, you remain flexible and composed. Furthermore, you will actively strengthen Surf Spirit’s reputation in the region and support business development efforts to drive the long-term vision forward in collaboration with our partners.

• Are 27 years or older
• Are fluent in English
• Can firmly promise at least 12 months; long-term planning is an advantage
• Have already gained leadership experience and know how to motivate and lead a team
• Set a good example and are a real team player
• Love to be host and always keep an eye on the well-being of the guests
• Ideally have previous experience in the gastronomy/hotel industry 
• Are passionate about surfing, yoga & sharing a good vibe
• Have a deeper understanding of hygiene and order
• Are organized and have experience in similar areas (e.g. management of camps, event organization)
• Enjoy onboarding, training and developing new employees
• Have already been able to gain experience in controlling and organizing teams
• Stay calm even in stressful situations and find a solution quickly
• Have excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a multicultural team environment. Open-minded, great listener and confident sharing ideas in a respectful and thoughtful way.
• Create a positive atmosphere in the team and motivate others
• Are solution-oriented and enjoy tackling challenges independently
• Like to get involved yourself and ideally have manual skills
• Can handle feedback well and provide constructive feedback when necessary
• Have been in Sri Lanka before
• Have a positive attitude and a friendly nature
• Have an international class B driving license
